The Legal Bit

Privacy and cookies

The short version: I'm a DJ, not a data company. I keep the details I need to quote for and play your event, the website counts visits without tracking who you are, and I never sell or share your information. The longer version is below.

Who I am

DJ Musha is run by Mason Youell, a sole trader based at 107-109 Far Bank, Shelley, Huddersfield, HD8 8HT. For anything about your data, contact me at [email protected] or 07419 119419.

What I collect and why

When you enquire about a booking, by phone, WhatsApp, email or through a booking platform, I keep what you send me: your name, contact details, the event date, venue and any music requests. I use it to quote for and run your event, and to answer any follow-up. That's the "performance of a contract" basis under UK GDPR. I keep booking details for up to six years for tax records, then they go.

If you contact me on WhatsApp, the message also passes through WhatsApp itself, which has its own privacy policy. Same for Facebook and Instagram messages.

Cookies

This website does not set cookies. There's no advertising tracking, no cross-site anything, and that's why you don't see a cookie banner: there's nothing to consent to.

Website analytics

The site uses a self-hosted, cookie-free analytics tool so I can see which pages get visited and whether the site is doing its job. It counts visits without storing personal identifiers, and I can't identify you from it. It also records anonymised session replays (how a page is scrolled and tapped) with text masked, capped at five minutes, so I can spot where the site confuses people. None of this data is sold or shared with anyone.

Photos from events

I sometimes take photos or short clips at gigs for my website and social media. For private events I ask the person who booked me first, and if you're in a shot and want it taken down, one message to me and it's gone.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask me what I hold about you, ask for a copy, ask me to correct it or delete it. Email [email protected] and I'll sort it within a month. If you think I've handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
