A DJ's guide to Brighouse wedding venues

Brighouse doesn't have the sheer number of wedding venues Leeds or Halifax does, but what's there covers a decent spread: a lake-view venue with a strong local reputation, a village inn with rooms built for events, and a golf club that hosts weddings alongside its members' business. I'm a Huddersfield mobile DJ and Brighouse is well within my patch, so this is what I'd tell any couple about the rooms, and what to check before you book. To be clear, it's a guide to venues I can cover, not a list of gigs I've done.

Casa Brighouse

Casa Brighouse is a lake-view venue that's built a strong reputation locally, used for weddings and a range of other events.

A lakeside setting is a big part of the appeal, but it's worth asking how that plays into the evening. Is there an outdoor element to the ceremony or drinks, and does the venue have an evening curfew tied to being near water or neighbouring properties? Confirm where the DJ sets up relative to any outdoor space, and how that curfew affects the pacing of the night.

Bert's Rooms and Events at the Black Horse Inn

Bert's Rooms and Events is based at the Black Horse Inn in Clifton, a village inn with rooms set aside specifically for events rather than a converted pub function room.

Village inns like this tend to have more than one room, and size varies a lot from one to the next. Ask which room the wedding's booked into, how many guests it holds comfortably, and where the dance floor sits within it. Also worth checking the power supply near the DJ spot and whether there's a step or change of level to plan around.

Crow Nest Golf Club

Crow Nest Golf Club hosts weddings and bigger parties in its function room alongside its usual golf club business.

Golf clubs are generally straightforward as venues go, but check the basics rather than assuming. Ask what the room's normally set up for, whether there's a fixed area or stage for a DJ, and what sockets are available nearby, since club buildings can vary a fair bit from one room to the next.

Also worth a look

There are function rooms around Rastrick and Hipperholme worth a look if you want something more local and low key, and the canalside spots around Brighouse basin give a different, waterside feel for a more relaxed do. If your venue's in either spot, tell me the room and I'll talk through the setup with you. Brighouse also sits close to Halifax, and a lot of couples compare venues across both towns. If that's you, I've written a guide to Halifax wedding venues too.

Questions to ask any Brighouse venue

Brighouse wedding venue FAQs

Do you cover Brighouse as a DJ?

Yes. Brighouse is well within my usual area alongside Huddersfield, Calderdale and the rest of West Yorkshire, so any venue in the town is one I can get to and set up in.

Which Brighouse venue is best for a big dance floor?

It depends more on the room booked than the venue itself. A lakeside venue, a village inn and a golf club function room all need slightly different approaches, but each works well once you know where the floor and DJ setup are going.

Do Brighouse venues usually have sound limiters?

Some do, especially venues near water or residential neighbours. It's not something to worry about, just something to ask about early so the setup gets planned around it.

How far in advance should I sort DJ details with my venue?

As soon as you've got a date and a room booked is ideal, so there's time to confirm power, curfew and layout with no surprises in the run-up.
